Housing Works fights for funding and legislation to ensure that all people living with HIV/AIDS have access to quality housing, healthcare, HIV prevention, and treatment, among other lifesaving services.

This position requires applicants to successfully complete a background check through the New York State Office of Children and Family Services when it supports the mandate under Section 424-a of the Social Services Law for legally authorized agencies to inquire of the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR) as to the existence of any indicated reports of child abuse and maltreatment against an applicant prior to employment, certification, or licensure in the childcare field.  All background checks will be conducted and reviewed in accordance with applicable federal, state and local law. 

Compensation Range: $75,000/yr - $80,000/yr commensurate with experience.  
 

Overview: 

Primary:

  • Provide documented supervision and guidance to Operations Manager and Program Assistant.

Secondary:

  • Establish and maintain working and collaborative relationships within the Department of Homeless Services.
  • Develop relationships with external providers and DHS for referrals and for provision of care.

Responsibilities: 

  • Coordinate regular team meetings with representatives of the City Sanctuary Emergency Hotel staff, and the Committee of Hispanic Children and Families (CHCF) team with which we subcontract for social services to the client population at the hotel.
  • Develop 90% of policies and procedures for the Hotel within two months.
  • Participate in the recruitment of qualified staff, including interviewing and recommendations for hire. Monitor and assist with the new-hire orientation process to ensure consistency in training among all clinical providers.
  • Act as Hotel representative, when necessary, at community meetings.
  • Always enforce the Residential Code of Conduct and/or House Rules.
  • Assess and analyze operations budget to find ways to minimize expenses.
  • Identify potential problems and points of friction and work to find solutions to maximize efficiency and optimize Housing Works’ values.
  • Master’s degree in a Human Services field, required, with at least five years of management experience in a client-facing setting.
