Housing Works fights for funding and legislation to ensure that all people living with HIV/AIDS have access to quality housing, healthcare, HIV prevention, and treatment, among other lifesaving services.

Compensation Range: $22/hr - $24/hr commensurate with experience
 

Overview: 

The Residential Aide Supervisor (RAS) ensures the wellbeing and safety of the program’s clients and staff during their shift and supervises a staff of five (5) Residential Aides so they can achieve the same goal. The RAS provides crisis intervention as needed to maintain residential safety and security. The RAS encourages our clients to adhere to the Housing Works Code of Conduct so that they can participate in the program in a healthy and safe manner.

 

Responsibilities: 

Primary:

  • The RAS supervises five (5) Residential Aides and ensures there is adequate coverage during the shifts the RAS works.

Secondary:

  • Build rapport with program clients and engage with them professionally and respectfully.
  • When necessary, de-escalate tense, even hostile, client situations.

Other functions that may be required with this position include:

  • Ensure the safety, security and integrity of all residents and guests, as well as the physical environment of the facility.
  • Conduct periodic facility walk-throughs.
  • Train staff in all programmatic policies and procedures.
  • Always provide excellent customer service and confidentiality.
  • Communicate with the clinical staff on resident behavior as well as the care of those on the fragile list.
  • Always enforce the Residential Code of Conduct and/or House Rules.
  • Enthusiastically participate in advocacy and direct actions to end the twin crises of homelessness and HIV/AIDS.
  • Willingness to work occasional overtime and offer flexibility regarding scheduling work time.
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish) is strongly preferred.
  • Must pass comprehensive background check to work in facility with children.
  • Ability to work with the homeless migrant population.
  • Dependable and flexible, with exemplary time management skills.
  • Able to maintain a high level of client confidentiality.
  • Excellent internal and external customer service skills and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Good communication skills both verbally and written including the ability to communicate with all levels of management.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Self-motivated and self-directed with the ability to assert oneself.
  • Ability to work with colleagues to solve problems.
  • Able to lift 20lbs. with proper assistance and tools.
  • The Residential Aide Supervisor position is one which requires the staff person to be present in the program site 100% of the time.
  • Occasionally to Frequently expected to de-escalate tense, even hostile, client situations

 

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • At least three years of work experience as a Residential Aide and/or in a client-facing role at a social services organization.
