Housing Works fights for funding and legislation to ensure that all people living with HIV/AIDS have access to quality housing, healthcare, HIV prevention, and treatment, among other lifesaving services.

Compensation Range: $85,000-$90,000 annually commensurate with experience


Overview:

The Director of Social Services works in conjunction with the Managing Director of Hotel Programs to oversee all service and operational aspects of the City Sanctuary Hotel. Primary: The Director of Social Services provides documented supervision and guidance to the Senior Program Coordinator and three (3) Case Managers and ensures the program’s compliance with the program’s DHS contract’s requirements, and Housing Works’ standards. Secondary: The Director of Social Services supports the Managing Director of Hotel Programs in achieving the program's goals.


Responsibilities

Other functions that may be required with this position include:

•Promotes Housing Works’ core values in day-to-day activities.

• Provide culturally competent services in accordance with Housing Works policies and practices.

• Ability to work with, and guide supervisees to work with a diverse client base with varying levels of service needs.

• Participate in the recruitment of qualified staff, including interviewing and recommendations for hire. Monitor and assist with the new-hire orientation process to ensure consistency in training among all clinical providers.

• Act as program representative, when necessary, at community meetings.

• Identify potential problems and points of friction and work to find solutions to maximize efficiency and optimize Housing Works’ values.

• In coordination with the Managing Director of Hotel Programs and the Vice President of Supportive and Affordable Housing Operations, develop and update policy and procedures for the program.

• Always enforce the Residential Code of Conduct and/or House Rules.

• Enthusiastically participate in advocacy and direct actions to end the twin crises of homelessness and HIV/AIDS. The following are qualifications and requirements of the position: •

Bi-lingual (Spanish) is strongly preferred.

• Ability to work with the homeless migrant population.

• Must pass comprehensive background check to work in facility with children. The following additional competencies are viewed as important to success in this position: • Preferably bi-lingual in Spanish.

• Dependable and flexible

• Able to maintain a high level of client confidentiality.

• Excellent internal and external customer service skills and strong interpersonal skills.

• Good communication skills both verbally and written including the ability to communicate with all levels of management.

• Ability to prioritize and multi-task.

• Must be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

• Ability to work under pressure

. • Self-motivated and self-directed with the ability to assert oneself.

• Ability to work with colleagues to solve problems.

• Willingness to work occasional overtime and offer flexibility regarding scheduling work time.

• This Director of Social Services position is one which requires the staff person to be present in the program office a minimum of 80% of the time.

• Ability to work one weekend day each month, and one evening until 8:00p each week.

Master’s Degree in a Human Services field and five (5) or more years of related experience supervising and managing staff in a client-facing setting.
