Summary:

Ties vessels to moorings, loads, unloads, and moves materials on and off vessels and/or from dock to storage site by performing the following duties:

Essential functions (responsibilities, tasks, supervisory needs)

  • Ties/unties incoming/departing vessels to moorings.
  • Loads and unloads materials, scrap, recycle material and garbage onto pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand and maintains good housekeeping.
  • Loads and unloads vessels using winches and other hoisting devices. Secures lifting attachments to materials and conveys load to destination and signals crane or hoisting operators to move load to destination.
  • Packs materials onto flatbeds and containers; installs strapping, bracing, or padding; uses proper identifying tags and labels for materials, cases, equipment, pallets, and other containers.
  • Operates equipment safely within its limitations.
  • Assembles product containers and crates, using hand tools and precut lumber.
  • Communicates with hand signals to Boom Truck operator.
  • Operates pickup and flatbed truck.
  • Conducts vessel online transfers with Alaska Department of Fish and Game
  • Assists fishermen when available and needed.

Required Qualifications (education, years of experience, KSAs)

Must be a current Trident Seafoods employee or have worked for Trident Seafoods before

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred education and experience

  • Experience operating Boom Truck

Additional eligibility requirements (language skills, training, certifications, DL, licensing):

  • Valid Driver’s License

Work environment (includes travel/on-call):

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Physical demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
