Truck Driver

Job Description

 

Summary:   Position is responsible to assemble orders for shipment to the stores; assist other staff;

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Truck Driver activities:  98 percent of time

  • Drives truck with shipments from warehouse to stores (CDL REQUIRED)
  • Secures dock for unloading of trailer
  • Hooks and drops trailers from warehouse to stores
  • Climbs in/out of truck
  • Delivers mail bags to stores

Other activities:  2 percent of time

  • Assists with unloading of shipment into the store
  • Lifts loose items that may shift during shipping

ACTIVITY, KNOWLEDGE, AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS

Physical Requirements: Must meet the Medical Criteria Under 49CFRPart391.41 DOT/Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration

  • Sitting is required for 25% of the shift (not including breaks) while driving
  • Push and pulling pallets and lifting products is required approximately less than 10% during the shift
  • Bending is required less than or up to 15% of the shift to reach product or to hook/drop trailer
  • Climbing stairs and in/out of the truck is required approximately 15% of the shift
  • Crouching is required up to 10% of the shift
  • Carrying up to 10 lbs is required frequently
  • Kneeling is required rarely
  • Physical strength to handle up to 15-pound object, frequently. Some items weighing up to 50 lbs to be handled occasionally (1-2 times per week)
  • Above average coordination, including eye-hand, hand-foot and balance
  • Above average endurance
  • Normal dexterity of hands and fingers with average repetition
  • Site with ability to distinguish color; perception of sound is required; ability to communicate issues verbally and in written form

Knowledge Requirements:

A positive attitude & pleasant personality; effective memory skills; good hand eye coordination; dependability, ability to follow directions & a strong willingness to learn. CDL is required. Motor Vehicle Record will be evaluated.

Average Hours Per Week:   40 hours per week

      Hours Employee Must Be Available: All shifts, Monday thru Sunday

Work environment:  Normal exposure to weather and temperature extremes
