SANITATION LEAD-L48

 Keeps working area and equipment in processing facility clean and sanitary for production by performing the following duties:

Essential Functions:

  1. Coordinates with maintenance personnel and other sanitation crew the dismantling of production line and equipment in preparation for cleaning.
  2. Disassembles and reassembles the production line and equipment as necessary for cleaning.
  3. Cleans the floors of all debris and rinses thoroughly.
  4. Cleans air lines and hoses that feed the lines.
  5. Removes and replaces equipment as needed to accommodate production set-up requirements.
  6. Sanitizes production equipment in preparation for maintenance and production set-up crews.
  7. Cleans and sanitize all pieces of equipment assigned by Sanitation lead.
  8. Cleans chemical room, process floor dry goods area, restroom and other work areas.
  9. Cleans wash buckets, trash cans, hand rails, and other equipment assigned by lead or manager until shift ends.

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.

Education:

Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.  Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

Experience:

Food industry sanitation experience preferred.

Special Training/Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to use a variety of hand tools, organize and coordinate work with others,  effectively communicate jobs and assigned tasks, work under pressure, and possess basic mechanical comprehension.

Work Environment:    While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical Demands:    While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Mental Activities:       While performing duties of this job the employee will frequently engage in teamwork.  The employee will occasionally be required to use interpersonal and customer service skills.  The employee will occasionally need to speak and read English.
