MAINTENANCE SUPVSR

SUMMARY

Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment, and in maintenance of buildings, grounds, and utility systems of mill, industrial plant, or other establishment by performing the following duties personally or through maintenance personnel:

Essential Functions

  1. Reviews job orders to determine work priorities.
  2. Schedules repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operations.
  3. Coordinates activities of workers fabricating or modifying machines, tools, or equipment to manufacture new products or improve existing products.
  4. Directs maintenance activities on utility systems to provide continuous supply of heat, steam, electric power, gas, or air required for operations.
  5. In conjunction with the Maintenance Manager, develops preventive maintenance program in conjunction with engineering and maintenance staff.
  6. Reviews production, quality control, and maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities.
  7. Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.
  8. Plans, develops, and implements new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and effect greater utilization of labor and materials.
  9. Reviews new product plans and discusses equipment needs and modifications with design engineers.
  10. Requisitions tools, equipment, and supplies required for operations.
  11. Directs training and indoctrination of workers to improve work performance and acquaint workers with company policies and procedures.
  12. Confers with management, engineering, and quality control personnel to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment.

Additional Responsibilities:   

  1. Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.
  2. Acquire knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions.
  3. Notify designated personnel of any environmental and safety incidents, or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and or Safety training.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Experience:

Minimum 2-years food manufacturing maintenance work and supervision required, preferably in the seafood industry.  Proven record of working within time restrictions. 

 

Special Training/Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software; Inventory software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

 

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
