TOOL ROOM CLERK

SUMMARY

Oversees the entire tool room and its functions.  Supervises workers within the tool room.  Receives, stores, and issues hand tools, machine tools, dies, materials, and equipment in industrial establishment by performing the following duties:

Essential Functions

  1. Oversees other tool room workers.
  2. Issues tools and equipment to workers and maintains records of tools and equipment issued and returned.
  3. Maintains inventory of consumable welding, and safety equipment supplies.
  4. Prepares periodic inventory or maintains perpetual inventory of tools and equipment.
  5. Receives, unpacks, and stores incoming tools and equipment, and requisitions stock to replenish inventory.
  6. Inspects and measures tools and equipment for defects and wear and reports damage or wear to supervisors.
  7. Repairs, services, and lubricates tools and equipment.
  8. Marks and identifies tools and equipment.

Additional Responsibilities:   

  1. Reports to the Vessel Repair Manager
  2. Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.
  3. Acquire knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions.
  4. Notify designated personnel of any environmental and safety incidents, or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and or Safety training.

Education:

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Training/Skills:

Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.  Ability to print and speak simple sentences.Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Work Environment:    While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical Demands:    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

Mental Activities:       While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to understand English, and utilize teamwork skills.  The employee is frequently required to speak English, and use decision making skills. The employee is occasionally required to use interpersonal, customer service, mentoring, problem analysis, training and supervision skills.  The employee will be occasionally required to read and write English, perform basic math, use exercise independent judgment, and use discretion.
