SHIFT LEAD - L48

Assists in coordinating and monitoring activities of workers engaged in the production process by performing the following duties:

 

Essential Functions:

  1. Supervise employees and their activities.
  2. Provide assistance in areas of plant operations and in maintaining the equipment and the facility.
  3. Coordinates daily activities of the production group with all departments to meet production and sanitation goals.
  4. Monitors and tracks performance of assigned lines and reports to supervision, maintenance and QA any issues.
  5. Performs daily shift review meetings at the end of each shift with the oncoming shift to communicate performance and issues throughout the shift.
  6. Assist in training hourly employees.
  7. Assure compliance with all safety and good manufacturing practices.
  8. Communicate with Supervisors and other Lead personnel any problems or concerns that surface during shift.
  9. Support special projects as needed.
  10. Performs attendance at beginning of shift and monitors employees for GMP compliance.

 Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Minimum of one-year plant work experience helpful.  Thorough knowledge of Production processes.

Experience:

1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing production environment with specific experience managing the production lines.  Food industry experience preferred.

Special Training/Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.  To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of email, spreadsheet software, word processing software and presentation software.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move and carry up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision and depth perception.  May be required to distinguish shades of color to identify abnormalities and/or defects in food products.

Mental Activities:     

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use teamwork skills.  The employee will occasionally use interpersonal and customer service skills.
