Pricing Analyst

Job Description




The Pricing Analyst is responsible for the analysis, reporting and execution of the pricing strategies in support of each merchandise category and Company pricing financial goals and objectives. The position is responsible for supporting pricing integrity (price accuracy) decision implementation across the entire pricing lifecycle including initial pricing, promotional pricing, and markdown/clearance pricing. This is a highly analytical role that requires pricing analyst to consider data from multiple sources and work with leadership to develop complex and dynamic pricing models that incorporate competitive pricing, market and customer data.

The Pricing Analyst evaluates data and recommends pricing strategies. The Pricing Analyst also supports the Planning and Category Management Teams in the identification, planning and execution of pricing solutions within product classes, new items and Assortment reviews.



  • Manage the day-to-day pricing activities across all product categories
  • Continuously evaluate pricing strategy performance and present recommendations to leadership in Merchandising that drive profitability and competitive pricing
  • Develop and plan pricing timelines to align with the business trends, the Merchandise Calendar, promotions/marketing initiatives, cost increases, and store workload
  • Evaluate the marketplace and competitive data to optimally align pricing strategies within the marketplace and store-specific zones
  • Work with external and internal partners to develop and manage new data pipelines and guide development of new reporting and pricing tools
  • Leverage a complex data store (i5, Teradata, MS Access)
  • Develop and manage pricing across zones, accounting for regionality or test initiatives
  • Actively manage CPIs (Competitive Price Index) and price recommendations
  • Assist with price tag change forecasting
  • Develop and implement a pricing reporting process that meets the needs of the business and improves upon existing processes
  • Develop algorithmic pricing insights based on business logic



Education & Experience:

  • BA/BS or 3-5 years equivalent work experience (MBA or MIS preferred)
  • Strong analytical skills coupled with the ability to effectively articulate insights and recommend actions
  • Strong organization and project-management skills, including the ability to meet demanding, evolving, and often competing deadlines
  • Advanced level of skill in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to effectively communicate analytical findings to leadership
  • Experience data mining, working with large transactional databases and building data models
  • Experience in reviewing and analyzing retail data (Nielsen, IRI, etc.)
  • Intermediate SQL skills required, ideally in DB2
  • Experience with BI Tools (Tableau, Shiny, MicroStrategy)
  • Experience in R or Python a huge plus
  • Experience with linear regression modeling and time series analysis a huge plus
