Technical Maintenance Clerk

Description of position:
Repairs and maintains Optical Lab machinery and equipment. Follow the maintenance schedules and complete the related documents. Assists with janitorial duties and general upkeep of facility and grounds.

Daily tasks and responsibilities:

  • Completes weekly, monthly, and quarterly maintenance checklists, including testing and inspection of alarms, fire extinguishers, and other safety equipment and systems.
  • Repairs equipment, replaces motors and servo-motor, electronic board and other parts. Tests and observes equipment and machinery to diagnose any malfunction. Cleans, lubricates, and performs regular preventive maintenance on equipment and machinery.
  • Calibrates manufacturing equipment such as tracers, auto-blockers, and auto-edgers daily by keying adjustments to settings or making manual adjustments with Allen wrench or other hand tools. Adjusts lens generators, finers and polishers as needed.
  • Conduct regular back up for the information stored in the computers systems to get a copy of the latest updates.
  • Assist,  in person or by telephone, the different vendors who will be required to correct or repair our equipment
  • Repairs tools, cleans and fabricates parts. Exchanges, inspects and hooks up batteries for power equipment to charger. Services receiving dock lift plate.
  • Checks and performs preventive maintenance and some repairs on plumbing, low voltage electrical, telephone, and computer systems.
  • Cleans alloy reclaim tanks. Replaces light bulbs, hangs signs, and cleans upper walls and ceilings by working from ladder or rolling platform stairs. Assists with painting, concrete floor repairs, janitorial duties, and grounds maintenance.
  • Maintains stock or commonly replaces parts. Drives private vehicle to purchase/pick up parts and supplies. Sends bad motors out for replacement or repair.
  • Moves machinery and conveyor lines as requested by management to facilitate workflow.
  • Perform maintenance and repair of pneumatic systems.
  • Maintain and repair electrical and electronic systems


Non-Essential Functions and Tasks:

  • Assists in other areas of the laboratory as necessary.


Qualifications (Costco-specific or industry-specific skills that candidates must possess):

  • Education/Training:    High School Diploma and Electromechanics diploma are required.
  • Licenses/Certifications:    Driver's license is required.
  • Experience:        Experience in Electromechanics is required.  Experience in electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems is preferred.
  • Knowledge/Skills:    Knowledge of optical and optical equipment is an asset. Manual dexterity is required.
