Job Summary:

The Store Manager is accountable to the District Manager and is responsible for directing, developing and managing store staff to protect company assets, maintaining store conditions, presentation, maximizing sales & gross profits, customer & team member relations through proper controls such as sanitation, merchandising, payroll, required record keeping and compliance of Company, State and Federal policies, rules, procedures, regulations and laws.

SUMMARY

The Store Manager is accountable to the District Manager and is responsible for directing, developing and managing store staff to protect company assets, maintaining store conditions, presentation, maximizing sales & gross profits, customer & team member relations through proper controls such as sanitation, merchandising, payroll, required record keeping and compliance of Company, State and Federal policies, rules, procedures, regulations and laws.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Maintains clean, fresh and friendly store conditions per company standard everyday; to include compliance with company and governmental sanitation and safety standards.
  • Maximizes store sales.
  • Develops and maintains a team concept to improve associate morale, communication, community involvement and ultimately working conditions.
  • Maximizes store profits.
  • Achieves or surpasses productivity and payroll goals in each department.
  • Controls and executes shrink standards while ensuring proper inventory levels and control.  Masters the CGO function.
  • Establish and maintain a working relationship with all support staff:  Price Rite Staff, Vendors and Wakefern Staff.
  • Manages the necessary recruitment, development, training and counseling of all employees and identifies potential promotable people.  Foster and promote a team culture that is engaged, fun, spirited and productive.
  • Manages others and adhere to company human resource and personnel policies as well as state and federal laws.
  • Maintains an ongoing awareness of competitive activity in the immediate marketing area.
  • Demonstrates and supports a high level of integrity, ethics and confidentiality.
  • Ensures proper usage compliance and handling of all supplies.
  • Ensures proper maintenance and safe use of equipment.
  • Establishes an appropriate level of community involvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage, supervise and provide leadership to 100-150 team members in the store.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Two plus years related management experience. Associate Degree preferred or equivalent of education and experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
