Description of position

Plots daily routes and stops for delivery trucks by using computer program. Assigns routes to drivers. Maintains program files on traffic patterns, revisions and roadwork. Generates order pick sheets, driver route sheets and driver manifests by order.

Daily tasks and responsibilities

  • Communicates with Contact Centre supervisor to ensure that closing computer reports are done in a timely manner.
  • Downloads orders from computer order system to compute routing system for review.
  • Verifies time windows on routes and passes unrealistic-time-window issues to their manager for follow-up with member.
  • Verifies localization/consolidation of routes.
  • Verifies that weights and volumes are within truck capacity.
  • Provides prompt and courteous member service. Schedules re-deliveries and pick-ups and accommodates special requests.
  • Prints and submits completed driver route sheets to manager for review.
  • Prints order pick sheets and driver manifests by order.
  • Assigns drivers to routes.
  • Assists in other areas of Fleet department as needed.

Non-essential functions and tasks

  • Assists in other areas of the Business Centre as necessary.

Qualifications (Costco-specific or industry-specific skills that candidates must possess)

  • Education/Training: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Permits/Licenses/Certifications: Costco Food Safety Certification - Level 1 required first day in the position.
  • Experience: None. 
  • Knowledge/Skills: Computer skills required. Map-reading skills required. Familiarity with delivery area preferred.
