LSS services for older adults are one component of a continuum of support with LSS.  They offer peace of mind through services designed to support individuals in the ways they need to ensure quality of life continues throughout their lifetime. 

The purpose of the Director of Pooled Trust is to provide leadership and management for the LSS Pooled Trust Service, to provide supervision and direction in the handling of trust cases and to ensure financial management is provided in the best interests of the clients. The incumbent will direct the current and future business for LSS Pooled Trust Services. 

The incumbent has the responsibility for Two statewide trust program for 500+ clients served in multiple pooled trusts service offerings. The trust amount is $22 .0 million and could grow exponentially depending on the clients obtained. Trust Services intends to expand to non-pooled trusts as a new product offering.

The successful candidate will also provide overall monitoring and daily operations of the trust accounts for LSS MN Pooled Trust in Minnesota, LSS Pooled Successor Trust of ND and the developing LSS MN Pooled Trust North Dakota.  Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide direct oversight and management of Trust team associates and the daily service operations
  • Provide direct oversight and management of difficult client situations
  • Ensure the team is compliant with the Trust regulations that guide trust services
  • Develop and manage the budgets for the current four units
  • Monitor and maintain policies and procedures to reflect current and ongoing statutory and regulatory requirements for Pooled Trust Services
  • Advocate for federal and state legislative support in regards to Trust Services
  • Market and expand LSS Pooled Trust Services throughout Minnesota and North Dakota
  • Provide supervision to 5 direct reports
  • Business Development responsibilities – developing growth strategies and plans, managing and retaining partnership relationships, planning and overseeing sales and marketing initiatives.
  • Collaborate and work with LSS Central Services to leverage additional resources and expertise to maintain high-quality standards and service delivery of Pooled Trust Services.


Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in the field of Human Services, Business or Management or related experience is required.
  • Five years of work experience in human services required.
  • Accounting and financial management experience is highly desired.
  • Three to five years leadership experience is required.
  • Driver’s license required for business travel
  • Comprehend trust, financial, legal, and public benefit terminology, including Social Security and Medicaid.
  • Understand basic accounting and investing procedures.
  • The ability to interact with a diverse population, including financial advisors. attorneys, court personnel and compliance and regulatory officials. 
  • Excellent supervision, decision making, organizational and strategic thinking skills.
