Position:                     Grounds Maintenance Worker

 

Department:               Hollywood Bowl Operations

 

FLSA Grade:              Non-Exempt (Salary $17.25-$19.00)

 

Position Summary: 

The Grounds Maintenance Worker, reporting to the Operations Manager, assists in the daily maintenance, cleanup and preparations of the venue for events.

Position Elements:

  • Help prepare site for opening
  • Assist in the process of changing out the marquee
  • Sweep, blow and hose down entire grounds, including theatre area
  • Planting of new plants and plant care for existing landscaping
  • Cut grass, trim trees and assist tree crew with larger projects
  • Setup tables, tents, canopies and other items as needed
  • Keep accurate time records and abide by the meal and rest break policy
  • Assist other departments when necessary and as directed by a supervisor (such as: closing gates, unloading trucks, etc.)
  • Respond to a wide range of customer service issues with sensitivity and care
  • Assist with setting up vendor canopies, umbrellas, metal detectors, and assist with removal of bollards when needed 
  • General duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

  • Existing knowledge of or the ability to quickly learn the following:
    • Recycling policies
    • Layout of venue and grounds
    • Event times and program information
    • General seating
  • Ability to:
    • Work outside
    • Bend, stand and walk (including hilly terrain and stairs) for up to duration of entire work shift
    • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs on your own
    • Lift and remove bollards (up to 150lbs/each) with the assistance of up to two other employees.

This position will require you to interact with employees, patrons, vendors and others who may or may not be vaccinated or recently tested. You will be required to wear personal protection equipment (PPE) required by the LA County Department of Public Health protocols and the LA Phil.  You agree to comply at all times with the LA Phil’s COVID-19 Prevention Plan, including testing and vaccination requirements.
