Statement of the job:
The Retail Manager, Operations is responsible for managing the daily operations and administrative functions for the LA Phil retail business. This includes supervising a team of retail employees, managing financial records, maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring the stores run smoothly and efficiently.
Essential Functions:
Administrative Responsibilities
- Generates retail financial reports including bookkeeping, end of month reconciliation, retail metrics and sales performance.
- Prepare invoices for approvals, serve as point of contact for financial issues.
- Assists with department budgets and forecasts.
- Creates and maintains accurate inventory records and directs the retail team to comply with inventory process and procedures.
- Manages annual physical inventory process.
- Orders and maintains retail operation supplies and equipment.
- Proficient with point-of-sale hardware and software, serves as point of contact for service support provider.
Store Operations
- Oversees the daily operations of the stores, ensuring that everything runs smoothly and efficiently.
- Manage and direct staff, oversee recruitment and training, provide timely feedback and coaching.
- Manage timekeeping and staff schedules to ensure adequate floor coverage within budget guidelines.
- Works on the sales floor as needed, serve as a role model for selling behavior and customer service.
- Supports ecommerce operations.
- Participates in strategic planning for the store, assists with developing and planning for special events, tracks sales and generates final reports.

Requirements
- BA/BS degree or equivalent retail business experience
- At least 3 years proven retail management experience including bookkeeping, administration, operations, e-commerce, POS functions and direct reports.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain effective working relationships.
- Strong ability to multi-task, prioritize and work efficiently.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data driven decisions.
- Advanced knowledge of excel, point of sale and ecommerce systems.
- Strong communication skills - written and verbal.
- Flexible schedule to work occasional evenings and weekends.
- Knowledge and passion for music and the arts is a plus.
- Other duties as assigned.
