We are seeking a Sanitors/Equipment Cleaners to join our hard working and fast-paced team.  Sanitor/Equipment Cleaners will perform sanitation/cleaning duties in a fast-paced manufacturing environment coordinating all cleaning tasks with production schedules to ensure minimal equipment down time. Sanitors will maintain and clean all bakery equipment and surfaces according to standards set by the company and the food manufacturing industry. Position may be part-time or full-time, depending upon work load.

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Chief Engineer is responsible for overall engineering, maintenance, upgrades budgeting, directing a team, safety, and managing engineering processes within the Bakery. This position requires interaction with all internal departments, 3rd party vendors, and customers to which engineering, and manufacturing equipment maintenance services are provided.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages and justifies all budget, CAPEX, and resource allocation decisions to the Director of Operations as required.
  • Plans, directs, and leads engineering projects and/or equipment maintenance project activities
  • Oversee Maintenance Engineering staff to ensure production equipment reliability.
  • Identifies and schedules project deliverables and required tasks.
  • Builds positive relationships with vendors and contractors to ensure bakery needs are met on budget and on time.
  • Acts as liaison between the projects and leadership team.
  • Directs and coordinates activities for Maintenance Engineers to ensure project timelines are on schedule.
  • Develops and implements optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards.
  • Ensures policies, procedures, and controls that govern operations are followed.
  • Consults with staff to ensure routines and controls keep the organization operating safely and effectively.
  • Sets department goals and objectives.
  • Orders parts or approves the ordering of parts.
  • Confronts issues openly, professionally, and timely.
  • Attends and conducts regularly scheduled meetings with staff and management.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates leadership, decision-making, project execution, lateral thinking, and highly effective communication skills.
  • Works with Production to establish an OEE plant measurement system
  • Development of a CI Program
  • Leads people and business processes to meet business objectives with consideration to timelines and optimum financial outcomes.
  • Utilizes strong analytical skills to solve problems and make decisions based on limited precedents or guidelines.
  • Able to adapt to and deal with ambiguous situations, driving towards clarity.
  • Excellent conflict management skills and ability to partner with other departments and organizations to be successful and resolve issues.
  • Effectively work in a team environment, yet be self-directed, proactive, and action-oriented.
  • Travel – Occasional travel to other facilities to review processes and current evaluations.
  • Varied day/evening hours as well as weekend work to meet deadlines or as needed.
  • Bachelor’s in Engineering, Sciences, Math, or related STEM discipline or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional-level work experience. 
  • Minimum of ten (10) years expertise in food or bakery production manufacturing maintenance engineering.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of management experience.
  • Excellent computer skills using Microsoft Office and CAD software.
  • Excellent working knowledge of PLC based hardware and software applications.
  • Strong working knowledge of MRP, 5S management, and Six Sigma Certification preferred
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.  
  • Knowledge of tooling design and fabrication.
  • Proven experience in plant upgrade including capital return management.
  • Bilingual (English / Spanish) preferred but not required.
