POSITION SUMMARY

The primary purpose of this position is to provide clerical support to the Housing Programs Division of the Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCVP).

 

All activities must support the District of Columbia Housing Authority's (DCHA) strategic goals and objectives and produce the results that accomplish the goals of HCVP.

 

This position is designated as non-essential.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Receives and screens incoming telephone calls and visitors to the office, ascertains the purpose of the caller/ visit and utilizes judgment to determine which  can be responded to personally, which should be directed to the supervisor and which can be referred elsewhere         
  • Enters and retrieves data from the computer system(s); performs basic research and fact-gathering assignments, including but not limited to pulling files and historical documents; compiles information for reports;  and provides information and assistance to DCHA employees, participants and owners
  • Receives, date stamps, logs, and distributes incoming mail; as appropriate,  performs data entry and scanning documents; re-mails returned correspondence as necessary prepares and mails office correspondence as directed
  • Operates a variety of data entry equipment to perform complex and complicated data transcribing/verifying assignments requiring skilled use of the full keyboard, both alphabetic and numeric characters and special symbols requiring double keying
  • Types correspondence and forms as assigned; ensures accuracy and completeness
  • Supports HCVP front desk with the assistance to participants and landlords as needed
  • Files and keeps organized accurate records;  performs document scanning as needed
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or equivalent from an accredited school; at least (2) two years’ related experience; or the equivalent combination of education and experience which meet the minimum qualifications requirement may be substituted.

 

The District of Columbia Housing Authority (DCHA) conducts pre-employment screening on specified positions, which may include but is not limited to a criminal background check, drug and alcohol testing, verification of academic credentials, licenses, and certifications, and/or verification of work history. 

 

This position has been designated by the department to require a drug and alcohol screening and background check.  Finalist(s) for this position will be subject to drug and alcohol testing and will be required to consent to a pre-employment background check as a condition of employment.
