The Sexual Behaviour Clinic within the Complex Care and Recovery Program at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health is currently seeking a part-time one (1) year contract, Social Worker 2 to support the Talking for Change program. This project will focus on evaluating the efficacy of Talking for Change, a program for the secondary prevention of child sexual abuse, involving service provision to non-justice involved individuals with a sexual interest in children. Reporting to the Research Operations Manager and Principle Investigator, the successful applicant will have a dotted line to the Clinical Manager and work closely with the other clinical and research staff involved in the project.

The Social Worker 2 will be responsible for in-person and virtual psychotherapy to non-justice involved individuals with a sexual interest in children and/or those concerned about their risk to offend, as part of a clinical trial. The position includes providing group psychotherapy targeting general mental health concerns, rating client engagement, and engaging in treatment fidelity tracking. The incumbent will support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and effective communication as well as complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements.  This position is located at 1001 Queen Street West in Toronto.

The successful candidate will possess a Master of Social Work (MSW) in good standing combined with a preferred minimum of 1 year of post-graduate, direct clinical (psychotherapy) experience in the provision of mental health and/or addictions treatment. 

Previous experience working with forensic populations and/or individuals with sexual offences is preferred. Knowledge of and ability to apply principles of risk management and crisis intervention, knowledge of issues pertaining to sexual offending and pedophilia, and experience in mental health treatment, trauma, and healthy sexuality is preferred. The candidate must be in independent practice for the provision of Controlled Act psychotherapy and have experience utilizing Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), or other structured modalities. The successful candidate will be comfortable and confident speaking about sexuality, sexual development, and sexual abuse. You possess a commitment to sexual abuse prevention and recognize that reaching individuals with a sexual interest in children is an important prevention strategy.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required to work within the inter-professional teams and to engage with clients.  You possess demonstrated knowledge and experience in concurrent disorders, mood and anxiety, trauma and evidence-based treatments.  Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced interprofessional clinical environment are essential. Knowledge of community resources related to this population and discharge planning is preferred. You will also be able to meet deadlines, and have excellent computer skills, along with excellent writing skills is essential.

Preference will be given to those who hold certificates/certification.  For Registered Social Worker incumbents not yet in independent practice who are required to practice with clinical supervision, CAMH, in its discretion, will pre-arrange this formal supervisory relationship with the clinical program as a condition of hire, based on capacity. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language is considered an asset. Experience working with individuals from diverse ethno-cultural backgrounds is also required.
