SUMMARY

Responsible for directing and supervising a group of employees involved in the quality control program designed to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established standards.

Essential Functions

  1. Plan and assign work of subordinates.
  2. Develop and/or adapt inspection equipment to meet quality control standards, make suggestions regarding procedures, standards and equipment to facilitate work and maintain product quality.
  3. Analyze facts or circumstances surrounding individual problems to determine what action should be taken within the limits of standard practices.
  4. Responsible for compilation and maintenance of inspection reports and records.
  5. Investigate and determine cause of faulty work and consult and advise production supervisors as to corrective measures.
  6. Keeps manager abreast of significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and actions being taken to improve the situation.
  7. Maintain discipline, morale and harmonious relations among subordinates.
  8. Investigate and adjust personnel problems within area of responsibility.  Effectively recommend as to hiring, promotions, wage adjustments and terminations.

Additional Responsibilities:   

  1. Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.
  2. AKUTAN:  Focuses on ensuring that safety policies and procedures are adhered to and elevates safety issues to appropriate manager(s).        
  3. Acquire knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions.
  4. Notify designated personnel of any environmental and safety incidents, or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and or Safety training.

Education:

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

HACCP certification

Experience:

Three to Five years supervisory experience in the seafood industry/Quality Assurance field.  Knowledge of HACCP regulations, Food Safety, and Audit procedures required.

Special Training/Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of email, spreadsheet software, word processing software and presentation software.Must have knowledge of inspection and Quality Control methods, techniques and equipment.  Must have knowledge of use of a wide variety of measuring instruments and complicated drawings.

Work Environment:    While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Physical Demands:    While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision and depth perception.  May be required to distinguish shades of color to identify abnormalities and/or defects in food products.

Mental Activities:      While performing duties of this job the employee will frequently engage in teamwork.  The employee will frequently be required to use teamwork skills and understand English.  The employee will occasionally need to speak, read, and write English, and will be occasionally required to use customer service skills and perform basic math.
