Captain

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the assigned security team to include meeting all contractual, business and operational requirements.  The Captain performs a variety of duties assigned by the Manager, including but not limited to the following:  Scheduling / inputting time into the payroll system, monitoring and controlling overtime, conducting random and scheduled post checks, act as a liaison between the security team and Manager related to employee performance, and implementing Policy and Procedures. 

Additionally, the Captain continually monitors and trains subordinates to ensure the highest quality of supervision is being maintained on the contract.  On occasion the position may need to step in to stand a post and may be tasked with other tasks as assigned.

Ideal candidates possess a good working knowledge of security operations, safety practices in a business environment and enforcement procedures (i.e., electronic security equipment, audio and video equipment).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AT ENTRY (Additional qualifications may be specified and receive preference depending upon the nature of the position

Basic Qualifications

  • US Citizen is preferred
  • At least 21 years of age

Education | Experience

  • High school diploma / GED
  • At least four (4) years of documented leadership experience, either in law enforcement, military, or armed security or a combination of both leadership and college courses pursuing a Criminal Justice or Law Enforcement degree
  • Successful completion of Police Officer’s Standard Training (POST) course
  • At least five (5) years' security experience, two (2) years of which in field supervision.

Background Prerequisites

Must undergo and meet company standards for background and reference checks, controlled substance testing, may need to meet Physical examination requirements per assignment and behavioral selection survey, in addition to any mandatory licensing requirements

  • Must be able to meet and continue to meet any applicable state, county and municipal licensing requirements for Security Officers.
  • Must be able to meet and continue to meet requirements for specific skills, certifications or authorizations specified for the assigned site.
  • Knowledge of the contract operations
  • Understand and follow standard operating procedures, to perform duties in a professional manner and appearance
  • Good judgment decisions within proper policy and procedures
  • Must be able to pay full attention to detail, and be able to multi-task
  • Ability to conduct effective and confidential investigations.
  • Ability to write reports and correspondence in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret various policies.
  • Ability to interpret furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form.
  • Use of personal computer and standard office productivity software.
  • Ability to interact effectively at all levels and across diverse cultures.
  • Strong customer and results orientation.

WORKING CONDITIONS: With or without reasonable accommodation, requires the physical and mental capacity to perform effectively all essential functions.  In addition to other demands, the demands of the job include:

  • Maintaining composure in dealing with authorities, executives, clients, staff and the public, occasionally under conditions of urgency and in pressure situations.
  • Work is performed inside and outside the property with exposure to inclement weather and unpredictable crisis situations.
  • Required ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently
  • Shift work required
  • Ability to remain on post up to four (4) consecutive hours without eating, drinking, or relieving bladder/bowels
  • Frequent and prolonged walking, standing, sitting, and stooping, up to 12 hours per day, either indoors or outdoors, during daytime or nighttime
  • Regular talking and hearing.
  • Close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Wage range for this position is $65,000.00 – 95.000 annually.  

Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k.  The paid leave for full time employees is from 80-240 hours / year based on longevity in the position, and sick leave is a minimum of 56 hours per year for a full-time employee
