Description of position

Assists employees and managers with payroll, personnel and benefit information and reports. Keys, reviews, corrects and updates entries to automated payroll system. Maintains personnel files.

Daily tasks and responsibilities

  • Assists employees with payroll, personnel and benefit questions or concerns. Exercises discretion and confidentiality with all employee information.
  • Keys new employee information into the computer payroll system, updates for documented changes/initiates documentation for automatic changes. Reviews all documents for accuracy prior to keying and filing.
  • Runs reports for managers on attendance, benefit eligibility, upcoming raises and status changes. Issues daily report of payroll by department.
  • Tracks counseling notices and performance reviews prior to filing, purges expired counseling notices, updates performance review list.
  • Maintains employee personnel files. Retains payroll report history, time card books, terminated employee files.
  • Issues authorized job/wage confirmations. Completes Workers Compensation reports. Posts work schedules weekly. Distributes paycheques, attaches flyers as needed.
  • Keys employee credit applications for Costco membership/credit card.
  • Provides prompt, courteous member service when answering phones, assisting members.

Non-essential functions and tasks

  • Assists in other areas of the warehouse as necessary.

Qualifications (Costco-specific or industry-specific skills that candidates must possess)

  • Education/Training: High School Diploma or GED preferred. Permits/Licenses/Certifications: None
  • Experience: Candidates with payroll experience will be given preference over other candidates.
  • Knowledge/Skills: Must pass Costco Math test.  Computer skills and communication skills preferred
