Buying - Inventory Control Specialist

Description of position:
Enters and updates computer records and reports for buying staff. Reviews department inventory reports weekly and tracks item replenishment and purchase orders. Sends and tracks vendor contracts, and ad and logo agreements. Communicates with regional offices, vendors, and members to relate and gather information, and to resolve issues.

Daily tasks and responsibilities:

  • Procuring all orders, set up of items, etc.
  • Verifying exactness of purchase orders and reviewing with Accounts Payable in case of discrepancies.
  • Data entry both on the PC and the AS-400 system.
  • Reading and interpreting various reports, e.g. sales, product returns, receiving, etc.
  • Following up with suppliers and warehouses on orders and other changes.
  • Correcting price lists and changes made to descriptions, formats, etc.

Non-Essential Functions and Tasks:

  • Assists in other areas of the department as necessary.

Qualifications (Costco-specific or industry-specific skills that candidates must possess):

  • Education/Training:    High School Diploma or GED preferred.

 

  • Licenses/Certifications:    None

 

  • Experience:        Purchasing experience is preferred.

                                        Computer experience with EXCEL is preferred (candidates will be tested).

  • Knowledge/Skills:    Bilingualism (English/French) is a definite asset.

                                             Interpersonal skills and strong problem-solving skills.
                                             Strong verbal and written communication skills.
                                              Resourcefulness and ability to prioritize, ability to take initiative and work under pressure.
                                              Attention to detail and strong analytical skills

  • Other:    Must Successfully pass Math Test

        NOTE:   All applications for this position will be retained in a pool of candidates for a period of 3 months, from which we will draw for the purposes of upcoming openings.
