AUTOMATION PROGRAMMER

SUMMARY

Installs, programs, and repairs automation controls and electrical systems to support shore plant and processing needs.  This position is based at various shoreplants throughout Alaska.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

  1. Installs and retro fits automation and control systems at seafood processing facilities.
  2. Support shore plants remotely when not in Alaska to accommodate programming needs.
  3. Change, update, and design new desktop and touch screen applications.
  4. Tests malfunctioning machinery and discusses malfunction with other maintenance workers, operators, and plant management, to diagnose the malfunction and repair.
  5. Diagnoses and repairs or replaces faulty electronic components, such as printed circuit boards.
  6. Pushes buttons and presses keys on robot controller, teach pendant, and programmable controller to program automated machinery, such as robots, to operate automated machinery, to test for malfunctions, and to verify repairs.
  7. Create small Ethernet, ethercat, DH+, and other networks.
  8. Work with RsLogix500, RsLogix5000, FactoryTalk, and other systems.
  9. Inspects low voltage electrical systems.
  10. Understand and able to understand and implement safe working procedures.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITES

  1. Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.
  2. Acquire knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions.
  3. Notify designated personnel of any environmental and safety incidents, or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and or Safety training.

EDUCATION 

Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or a minimum of 2 years related experience; and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

EXPERIENCE

Technical school training in electrical maintenance, automation, or 3 years in the field working with electrical controls and PLCs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers and reach with and arms hands. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must regularly lift or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
