INVENTORY CLERK LFS

Job Summary:  This position is short-term internship that allows the intern to experience all aspects of our supply chain.  At the end of the internship, an exit interview will be performed with the Vice-President of Operations, the Distribution Manager and the Inventory Control Manager where the Supply Chain Intern will present their observations and suggestions for process improvement.  The Supply Chain Intern will cycle through all aspects of inventory movement to include receiving, stocking, picking and shipping.  They are responsible to review, monitor and execute in a timely manner the confirmation and accuracy of all inventory movements in these areas and to work with managers to book adjustment transactions by performing the following duties:

Essential Functions:

  • Perform established inventory management procedures in the areas assigned and to explore all warehousing functions..
  • Justification of quantities received with vendor provided packing slip.
  • Verifying quantities and part numbers against packing lists and open Purchase Orders
  • Recognition of defection, broken or damaged merchandise
  • Notification of vendor of shortages, discrepancies and/or damages to shipments
  • Follow and implement the approved cycle counting schedule, so that discrepancies are identified and reconciled in a timely manner.
  • Verifies clerical computations against physical count of stock and adjusts errors in computation or count, or investigates and reports reasons for discrepancies.
  • Work with Production and Purchasing to review and report material shortages.
  • Learn and understand the location management process to maintain accurate inventory locations.
  • Interact with leads in purchasing, internet, receiving, stocking, picking, shipping and inventory control to understand our processes and to suggest possible solutions and/or improvements to processes.

Education:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent; and to draw and interpret bar graphs. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of email, spreadsheet software, and word processing software. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

 

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel and talk to hear. The employee is regularly required to stand; walk, reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to forty pounds.

 

Mental Activities: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use customer service skills and frequently required to use teamwork and interpersonal skills.
