Description
JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Patron Services Manager, the Patron Account Associate provides face-to-face customer service with new patron registration; patron account maintenance; recording/collecting fines and fees; assisting with reserves; patron account issues, and liaising with library users to ensure equitable access to library materials. Additionally, this position provides Cafe support.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Troubleshoots meeting room presentation equipment for public meetings;
- Assists with materials circulation, materials shelving, and patron referral to other Library departments;
- Collects and records daily library statistics as directed by Patron Services Manager;
- Contributes to the planning and/or implementation of library initiatives in a manner which is supportive and encourages teamwork and collaboration;
- Attends and actively participates in staff meetings and other required activities such as performance management;
- Identifies issues with current processes and procedures and make recommendations to the Patron Services Manager;
- Actively supporting the implementation of changes which improve the efficiency and effectiveness of library service provision;
- Accepts, receives, and/or collects payments;
- Answers questions, assist patrons looking for a library materials, and resolves library patron account ;
- Sends items for repair;
- Performs inventory of physical collections; and
- Performs other assigned duties.
Minimum Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:
- Associate’s Degree;
- Six (6) months of experience;
- Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience; and
- Valid driver’s license.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of library organization, resources, and systems;
- Knowledge of departmental practices and systems;
- Skilled in the use small office equipment, including copy machines or multi-line telephone systems;
- Skilled in using computers for data entry;
- Skilled in using computers for word processing purposes;
- Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and an orientation towards customer service;
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment that requires adaptation to changing goals, priorities, and needs;
- Ability to organize, and communicate effectively;
- Ability to maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with others; and
- Ability to cooperate with fellow employees as a team member.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Work requires lifting and carrying (up to 15 pounds); crouching, feeling, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, standing, speaking, stooping, talking, visual acuity, and walking.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Most work is performed in a well-lit, modern office setting with centrally controlled heating and air conditioning.
