Under the supervision of the Managing Director, the Director of Justice Initiatives will oversee program development, implementation and administrative functions across the Justice Initiative portfolio. The Director of Justice Initiatives will have knowledge and experience of the New York State criminal legal system, strategies and interventions working directly with the criminal justice population and program administration skills. The Director of Justice Initiatives will also have experience leading large teams, managing multiple programs, relationships with key stakeholders and the ability to utilize data to inform decisions.


• Implement operating plans and program goals to maximize the utilization of Housing Works reentry services.

• Leverage data and evaluation to drive decision making and performance.

• Monitor and oversee program finance operations and fiscal tasks.

• Ensure the use of appropriate technology within the Justice Initiatives portfolio, identify areas for new or revised systems and work with IT for operational solutions.

• Develop and maintain relationships with key criminal justice stakeholders.

• Work with department supervisors to develop quality assurance and fidelity systems to ensure consistent high-quality services.

• Facilitate all staff and team meetings.

• Ensure contract compliance within portfolio and ensure good standing with funding agencies.

• Establish strategic hiring, recruitment and talent retention goals with the Managing Director and Human Resources Department.

• Develop and coach program supervisors to reach full management potential.

• Develop, coach and retain high-performance teams and empower them to elevate levels of responsibility and performance.

• Ensure client-centered, trauma informed practices occur during clients’ care coordination.

• Leads data reporting and submission to funding agencies. 



Minimum Requirements


  Bachelor’s Degree Required. Master’s degree preferred.

• Minimum 3 years of senior leadership experience.

• Experience working with criminal justice populations.

• Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

• Strong oral and written communication skills.

• Excellent interpersonal and networking skills
