This position will provide leadership to the Accounts Payable and Month-End Close Processes.  This position will have 4-6 direct reports (Sr. Accountants, and Accounts Payable staff. This position is also responsible for multiple functions in the accounting area on a rotating basis; this requires support for all 650 budgeting units. The incumbent is only Sr. Accountant with access to employee payroll data.

Minimum Requirements

 
  • Four years BA or BS degree in Accounting or Finance is required
  • Three to five years of accounting experience is required
  • Proficiency with Excel is required
  • Accounting, Accounts receivable, and other financial software experience required
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) required
  • Must have the ability to coach, develop, and train staff, both direct and indirect reports.
  • Team player yet must have the ability to work independently
  • Ability to give work direction and promote teamwork throughout the organization. 
  • Must demonstrate an ability to hold staff and the organization accountable to applicable standards.
  • Must have strong communication skills (listening, speaking and writing) in order to work effectively with staff, outside auditors and programs
  • Analytical, investigative and organizational skills with a focus on demonstrated results
  • Must be well organized and detail-oriented to complete work correctly and in a timely manner
  • Interpersonal skills, including diplomacy, are essential.
