JOB SUMMARY

As part of an organization’s IT team, the Network Engineer works closely with the Senior Network Engineer, the Senior System Administrator, and other peers within the County. Candidate will work in-house or be assigned to project management teams working with outside vendors.  Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Designing and implementing new network solutions and/or improving the efficiency of current networks
  • Installing, configuring and supporting network equipment including routers, proxy servers, switches, WAN accelerators, DNS and DHCP
  • Procuring network equipment and managing subcontractors involved with network installation
  • Assisting with inventory/property management
  • Configuring firewalls, routing and switching to maximize network efficiency and security
  • Maximizing network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting
  • Arranging scheduled upgrades
  • Investigating faults in the network
  • Updating network equipment to the latest firmware releases
  • Reporting network status to key stakeholders
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years hands-on experience; Experience may be considered in lieu of degree
  • The successful candidate will have a CCNA certification or demonstrated progress towards a CCNA certification
  • Experience creating Network documentation
  • Any relevant Cyber-Security certifications and experience will be preferred 
  • MUST have a clear understanding of Incident, Problem, and Change Management processes
  • MUST be able to work weekends and evenings as assigned
  • MUST be able to work remotely
  • Valid driver’s license

  • Most work is performed in a well-lighted, modern office setting with centrally controlled heating and air conditioning.
