POSITION SUMMARY:

The Digital Marketing Specialist - Earned Media supports the day-to-day execution, monitoring and measurement of earned media for Ocean State Job Lot (OSJL). This includes online community, review, and listings management across various digital marketing channels. The Digital Marketing Specialist - Earned Media thrives in a dynamic, rapidly-growing environment, translating ideas into exciting and engaging creative for digital distribution. This role works cross-functionally with the Marketing, Communications, Advertising, and Ecommerce teams to create engaging, results-oriented digital marketing content. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create and/or manage organic content for OSJL social media accounts, blogs, and other earned marketing channels
  • Work collaboratively with members of the advertising department and other teams to develop regular search-engine optimized (SEO) content consistent with business objectives and strategies
  • Test, measure and optimize earned media performance based on established key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Manage and moderate social media communities. Draft and post responses to comments and direct messages and, when needed, escalate to the appropriate internal stakeholders
  • Support email marketing campaigns including email proofing and calendar updates
  • Manage customer reviews. Draft and post responses to reviews, escalating where needed. Compile reporting on ratings each month and submit to relevant internal stakeholders
  • Manage local listings. Leverage our listings management platform to update store listing information across various online directories including Google My Business and Yelp
  • Develop and execute SEO strategies to increase website traffic. Leverage industry best practices to meet KPI objectives
  • Explore earned media solutions such as reporting, listings management, SEO and review management tools where needed
  • Collaborate with marketing teammates to maintain a consistent brand voice and message across all earned media channels
  • Establish and nurture cross-departmental relationships. Participate in brainstorms and creative meetings when necessary
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of emerging trends and technology in the industry

Requirements

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, English, public relations, communications, or a related field required
  • 3-5 years of marketing or communications experience required. Digital marketing background in the retail industry and social media preferred
  • A portfolio with samples of great advertising, blog, email, and social media content preferred
  • Working knowledge of Photoshop and basic HTML preferred
  • Experience with review management platforms preferred
  • Proficient in Google platform (i.e. sites, slides, drive, docs, sheets)

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work primarily in a climate controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard
