This is a technical staff position with design and support responsibility for the L.A. Philharmonic’s network and server infrastructure.

 

Position Elements:

  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of network communication.  Uses knowledge of LAN/WAN systems to help design and install internal and external networks.
  • Ensure the stability, integrity and efficient operation of the in-house information systems that support core organization functions.  This is achieved by updating, monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all networked resources and associated operating systems.
  • Document and maintain network wiring schematics including data port, patch panel and switch/hub connectivity.  Troubleshoot and repair network wiring issues as appropriate.  Recommend enhancements and improvements. 
  • Establish and manage wireless network connectivity at various locations throughout the enterprise.  Document and monitor security policies on wireless connections.  Assist in establishment of wireless connections for staff and approved guests.
  • Manage, troubleshoot, and maintain routers, WAN connections and fiber optic data communication lines between the various LAPHIL LANs’ and to/from the Internet.  Actively monitor network bandwidth usage statistics on all segments and suggest appropriate actions to maintain reliable and fast data communication. 
  • Document and maintain network security policies.
  • Actively manage, troubleshoot, and maintain firewall security between each LAPHIL network location and the Internet.  Document and update firewall security policies.
  • Design and test procedures for establishing VPN connections to the LAPHIL network from remote locations and home offices.  Manage establishment of remote connections by staff and approved guests.  Monitor VPN connections for security and compliance.
  • Troubleshoot user issues as they relate to network connectivity and reliability.
  • Test and evaluates network systems to eliminate problems and make improvements.  Provide periodic status reports on network performance and reliability to management.
  • Creates and maintains the network infrastructure portion of the organizational Disaster Recovery Plan.
  • Be prepared to cover the duties of departmental co-workers during their absence.

Minimum Requirements

 
  • Ten or more years working experience in all aspects of network and Active Directory design and administration.
  • Possess CCIE and Microsoft certification.
  • Expertise in Windows Server administration, Fortinet firewalls, Cisco Switching and Aruba Wireless
  • Knowledge of VMware and Xenserver hypervisors.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Proven ability to prioritize, schedule, and work under deadline pressures.
  • Must be an innovative thinker with good understanding of system administration and bring creative approach to addressing various IT issues
  • Dedication and commitment to engage in and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the staff, vendors, and within interactions with the surrounding community is a must
  • Secondary language fluency is a plus
