JOB SUMMARY

The Accounting Analyst, Senior coordinates the annual budget process and monitors budget throughout the year. Additionally, the incumbent prepares reports on any necessary financial information and works with department heads and elected officials regarding any budget or financial issues.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Coordinate the annual budget process for the County, including:
  • Work with departments & officials to create the annual budget
  • Coordinate monthly Budget Committee meetings
  • Create/assist departments in creating, and sign off on, necessary budget amendments
  • Monitor all budgets for any issues throughout the year
  • Responsible for month end close of assigned funds; various bank reconciliations, etc.
  • Assist annual Audit by working with state auditors in regard to various duties as assigned, including reserve analysis, statistical reporting, etc.
  • Update and maintain PPE policy/procedures manual in conjunction with Purchasing and other departments.
  • Adhere to policy by performing surprise “audits” at all locations on a random basis.
  • Perform other miscellaneous job duties as assigned, either verbally or written, which may not require a high percentage of the incumbent’s time. 
  • Reliable attendance is an essential part of this job.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK

  • Bachelor’s Degree;
  • Three (3) years of experience;
  • Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience; and 
  • Valid driver’s license.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of departmental practices and systems.
  • Skilled using small office equipment, including copy machines and/or multi-line telephone systems.
  • Skilled using computers for data entry, word processing, spreadsheets and/or accounting purposes.
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and an orientation towards customer service.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment that requires adaptation to changing goals, priorities, and needs.
  • Ability to supervise, organize, and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with others.
  • Ability to cooperate with fellow employees as a team member.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, reach and manipulate objects, tools and/or controls. The position requires mobility. Duties may involve moving materials weighing up to 10 pounds on a regular basis. Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 50% of the work period while operating equipment, such as computer keyboard, mouse, calculator and similar machines.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Most work is performed in a well-lighted, modern office setting with centrally controlled heating and air conditioning.
