R.J. Corman Railroad serves all seven North American major railroads, many regional and short line railroads and dozens of industries. Services include owning and operating eleven short lines, providing emergency rail services associated with derailments and natural disasters, switching, track construction, track material distribution, signal design/construction, building switching locomotives and operating a dinner train.

R.J. Corman's My Old Kentucky Dinner Train is currently seeking a Reservationist to support everyday function and day-to-day reservations

 

SHARED RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serves as customer service for call-ins requesting to book or needing information, scheduling, canceling reservations, refunds, rebooking.
  • Works with other reservationists to ensure customer information including charges are complete and accurate so that train staff can better serve the customer.  Provides the documentation for the communication link to the train.  
  • Review upcoming excursion availability and special requests
  • Receive, charge, package and ship orders for Golden Spike Dressing and for other gift shop sales such as model train sales. Maintain a file of filled orders by order date.  
  • Attend weekly and monthly staff meetings to discuss safety, upcoming events an service issues.
  • Make customer satisfaction highest priority.
  • Keep management informed of customer requests for additional unscheduled runs and any other customer requests that we could work to fill.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

RESERVATIONIST #1 RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Printing tickets before run Saturday
  • Handles the check-in process during a run including: distributing  tickets at the depot for arriving guests, making boarding announcements, charging walk-ons at the depot, notifying the kitchen of changes & additions, checking depot for readiness before guests arrive, turning on the depot music, cleaning up depot after guests board, etc.
  • Assists in planning special event runs
  • Decorate depot for event runs – including brainstorming, purchasing, hanging, removing and storing décor
  • Act as first impression for all group inquiries for the purpose of sifting the “small parties” from “large groups”. This includes calandly’s inquiry meetings with customers with questions. Large groups the meet the criteria will then be filtered to Veronica, while you will then set up others with working “discount link” process.
  • Assist with building seating chart for excursion
  • Work with Group Sales and Guest Relations Manager on all aspects of group sales including greeting buses, reviewing spreadsheets, sending information to groups, etc.

RESERVATIONIST #2 RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Print tickets before Friday run
  • Complete the seating chart for each excursion taking into account customer requests, customers needing boarding assistance, groups, number of customers per wait staff, add on purchases, special occasion celebrations, etc.
  • Create monthly reports and send info to employees within company as needed
  • Manage gift card sales to all customers and mail physical gift cards if needed.
  • Be available to work all special-event runs
  • Be available to fill in for reservationist

Minimum Requirements

 

CUSTOMER RELATIONS ASSISTANT RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist Reservationist #1 w/ check-in process during a run if needed
  • Assist bartender in depot during a run if needed
  • Ride train during a run and help run drinks from the on-train bar to tables
  • Ride train during a run and help fill water and tea glasses of customers as a way to talk with customers and share information about the train and create a more positive experience
