Shipping/ Receiving-Service Assistant

Description of position
Count and sign for delivered goods. Verify counts to freight bill and purchase order. Inspect condition of goods for quality. Key counts into AS400 computer system. Assemble and ship orders (contact lenses, frames, sunglasses, etc.) for warehouses in Canada.

Daily tasks and responsibilities

• Counts goods in receiving units, verifies counts to freight bill.

• Transports boxes to receiving inspection area using a cart or pallet jack. Opens cartons and places contents on worktable.

• Scans product with hand-held computer/scanning gun to verify UPC and item. Labels merchandise with correct item number and bar code. (Checks supplier tickets as needed.)

• Counts and checks merchandise from boxes (style, size, colour, quality and Printex). Writes count and item number on each box.

• Keys received goods into computer (AS400).

• Prints pallet tags and labels boxes. Stacks boxes and places them on steel shelves.

• Must be able to make orders for contact lenses, frames and sunglasses using a handheld scanner for each warehouse and place merchandise with license.

• Prints manifest and license and assembles them for shipping to locations.

• Must be able to use the shrink-wrap machine.

• Counts and separates glasses cases.

• Matches item number to bar code in AS400 system. Sets frame to print Printex information on lens.

Non-essential functions and tasks

• Assists in other areas of the Lab as necessary.

Qualifications (Costco-specific or industry-specific skills that candidates must possess)

• Education/Training: High school diploma or GED preferred.

• Permits/Licenses/Certifications: None.

• Experience: None.

• Knowledge/Skills: Must be meticulous, detail-oriented, conscientious, be able to concentrate in a fast-paced environment; must have concern for quality, problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
