The Social Worker performs a full range of clinical services related to the care and treatment of adult psychiatric patients as defined by the scope of practice. Provides ongoing treatment to a small caseload of patients utilizing a variety of skilled therapeutic techniques. Provides psychiatric social services to patients and their families in cases where specific problems related to environmental and/or psychological aspects influence the effective utilization of inpatient or outpatient treatment.

In addition to the above, this position will be the drug and alcohol coordinator for the hospital.  They are responsible for coordinating drug and alcohol services, providing group education and obtaining evidence based treatment for those who have a dual diagnosis of substance abuse.  Will be expected to co-lead AA meetings as needed.  Performs related functions as required. 


Given the COVID-19 pandemic and the need to protect patient, employee and visitor safety, UK HealthCare is requiring all employees to comply with its COVID-19 vaccination policy prior to starting employment. Therefore, as of September 15, 2021, UK HealthCare requires all employees, including new hires prior to their first day of employment, to submit appropriate documentation showing, i) completion of the first vaccination against COVID-19, or ii) completion of the full vaccination series against COVID-19 (i.e., two weeks past completing their complete COVID-19 vaccination series), or iii) approved exemption (medical contraindications or a sincerely held religious belief) through the formal exemption process from the COVID-19 vaccination requirement. For those employees who have completed the first vaccination against COVID-19 prior to their first day of employment, the second vaccination (if applicable) must be completed following the vaccine recommended schedule and a period of two weeks to be considered fully vaccinated.

Minimum Requirements


Masters in Social Work (MSW) required. Certified Social Worker (CSW) required and Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) preferred. One year of experience is required. The employee shall become familiar with HIPAA regulations and do their utmost to protect all protected health information (PHI) and other personal or sensitive information within their trust in the course of state business by applying appropriate safeguards and sharing only the information required to deliver agency services. Any personal or sensitive information overheard or seen by the employee will be kept confidential by not sharing it with others, on or off the work-site grounds. Fully participate in all activities regarding the elimination of the use of seclusion and restraints in patient care including educational requirements, competency development activities, and meeting established performance goals and measures. Must have computer competency in approved systems. Must have excellent customer service skills.
