Housekeeping - working Supervisor

The Housekeeping Supervisor will, as necessary to meet facility cleanliness and laundering standards, perform housekeeping / laundry duties, in accordance with established job description, to ensure consistent cleanliness of common areas and resident apartments or rooms.  Also, 

1.  Develops housekeeping and laundry department work schedule / staffing calendar and performs daily staffing functions to help ensure all shifts are filled.

2.  Trains or makes provisions for training of new housekeeping and laundry staff.

3.  Makes frequent rounds of the building to inspect for cleanliness and neatness. Provides “on the spot” training, guidance, coaching and counseling as needed to correct and improve staff performance.

4.  Responds to Housekeeping and Laundry staff questions / concerns and provides instruction and/or education to promote quality care.

5.  Identifies issues that require next day follow-up and communicates with supervisor.

6.  When necessary to correct improper job performance and/or behavior of staff, implements formal corrective action in compliance with established policy. Included may be suspending a staff member and gathering / recording information to provide to supervisor.  

7.  As requested, provides input to Department Manager regarding performance appraisals for staff on assigned shift.

Institutional cleaning experience required in Assisted Living residential community or nursing home or hospital or hotel setting.

Leadership experience including:

    Work schedules
    Staffing (evaluating candidates for employment and making recommendation to supervisor)
    Training new Housekeeping and Laundry staff
    Auditing and monitoring cleanliness throughout the building
