Would you like to change lives by providing an amazing experience for every camper?  At Camp Seymour you get to teach kids self-reliance, a love for nature and the outdoors, and the development of attitudes and practices that build character and leadership – all amidst the fun of campfires, canoeing, archery, talent shows, and meaningful relationships.

As the Waterfront Specialist you will supervise and maintain safe, enjoyable, age-appropriate waterfront programs and events. You will supervise boating instructors and lifeguards and provide progressive instruction in waterfront activities. You will work with leadership staff and all staff to coordinate and implement the overall camp program.

In this position, you will be able to use your skills to:

  • Build Community:
    • Seek out and use staff and camper feedback to improve programs and services.
    • Anticipate and take action to meet the needs of campers.
  • Be Inclusive:
    • Work effectively with all members of a diverse team.
    • Know the name and support the dream of every child in the program.
  • Provide quality results:
    • Monitor waterfront equipment and supplies; repair and resupply as necessary.
    • Plan, organize, and facilitate all waterfront programming for Day Camp, Overnight Camp, and visiting groups.

Are you a good fit?

  • You are committed to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
  • You are at least 21 years old.
  • You have worked at a camp for at least one season.
  • You have experience teaching boating and/or two years of personal boating experience.
  • You have a current Small Craft Safety Certification or YMCA Lifeguard/Red Cross Lifeguard certification (or the ability to obtain these certifications during staff training).
  • You have Washington State Boaters’ License or will have before the start of staff training.
  • You want to make the difference in the life of a child this summer

 

Starting Wage: $390+ per week, depending on qualifications

*This is a Residential position that includes room and board*

Date of Employment:  June 13th – August 25, 2023 (dates are approximate)
