Position: Associate Director, Operations
Department: Hollywood Bowl
FLSA Grade: Exempt (Salary $115,000 - $125,000)
Position Summary:
The Associate Director, Operations, reporting to the Director, Operations, assists the Director of Operations in the on-site day-to-day operations of the Hollywood Bowl and The Ford. This position also interacts with General Manager, Hollywood Bowl to ensure processes and tasks run smoothly.
Position Elements:
• Directs the planning and coordination of Bowl and The Ford Operations in areas of maintenance, public safety, theater facility management, budget administration, data analysis, and technology maintenance.
• Coordinates employee-related activities for the Bowl and The Ford, including selection of temporary and permanent employees, onboarding, ongoing staff training, compliance and employee discipline.
• Acts as on-site employee safety manager and is responsible for HR liaison.
• Responds to all facility emergencies 24 hours a day and coordinates with law enforcement agencies, fire departments, and all agencies in connection with any facility emergency.
• Produces accurate and timely budgeting for the Bowl in coordination with LA Phil finance department and Operations staff.
• Is responsible for data analysis for all aspects of Operations and interacts with staff to provide reports on traffic, parking, staffing, cost analysis for equipment and services and other analysis as needed. Be able to produce well-designed presentations in connection with analysis.
• Oversees technology maintenance related to video surveillance, digital signage, and other equipment. Oversee repairs and any maintenance contracts and coordinate with LA Phil IT department as needed.
• Assists in coordinating the planning and provision of necessary services in connection with approved requests for use of the Bowl.
• Represents Director at meetings with public and private agencies which provide service to the Bowl.
• Supervises Operations Administrator in connection with staff and patron accident/insurance reporting, lost & found, office supplies, office management and community concern logs.

“This position is a joint County of LA Department of Parks & Recreation position with an additional salary (range $65,000 to $88,000) and subject to a separate application.”
Position Requirements:
• Minimum work experience of five years in an arena, outdoor theater or similar venue
• Associates or Bachelor degree level education
• Excellent communication and written/presentation skills
• High competency in analyzing budget and all aspects of data related to HB operations including transit, traffic, employee and maintenance data
• Proficient in use of PowerPoint and/or other presentation applications, Microsoft Office - Excel, Word, Outlook and other applicable theater management and data analytics tools
• Knowledge of video surveillance/digital signage and other digital equipment maintenance and repair
• Knowledge of/or certificates in current health/safety guidelines
• Be able to handle frequent deadlines
• Strong multi-tasking capabilities
• Impeccable time management skills
• Maintain professional demeanor with patrons and staff alike
• Assist Director of Operations, Hollywood Bowl, and General Manager as needed
• Ability to work long hours required: work 15-hour days during summer season with possible consecutive day periods exceeding 10 days
• Spanish-language skills not required but a plus
