SUMMARY

This positions in this class analyze, develop and modify automated accounting, budget and finance systems; analyze user and operational needs and requirements; assist users in utilizing systems and solving work problems; evaluate system performance and recommend improvements; ensure system integrity, accuracy and controls; design, develop and maintain reports; download data and develop macros and complex spreadsheets; and perform professional accounting and financial analysis tasks as required.

The right candidate will be able to draw from their accounting/finance, systems (Examples: PowerBI, SQL) and overall business acumen to help the lead and develop projects and cross functional initiatives supporting our overall strategy and financial goals.

You will partner with teams working on market growth, operational lean and system automation projects that will allow the larger organization to be more efficient and profitable. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Analyzes user and operational needs and business requirements in order to develop or modify automated accounting, budget and finance systems.
  2. Work cross-functionally (Sales, Finance, Operations, etc…) to develop and ensure actional automated insights
  3. Performs financial systems management functions including systems administration, programming issues, system fixes; and serves as liaison with IT personnel on technical aspects of financial systems.
  4. Provides systems and analytic support to management to provide accurate and timely reporting of financial information.
  5. Supports management information and reporting requirements via the maintenance of current reports, design of new reports and writing of ad-hoc reports as required.
  6. Designs and develops a variety of queries, macros and complex spreadsheets from downloaded data.
  7. Develops and revises methods and procedures to establish and ensure system integrity and internal controls.
  8. Recommends sub-systems modifications to assure comparability with citywide system.
  9. Provides user training on systems usage and writing reports; develops training materials and conducts classes.
  10. Coordinates with IT staff in developing and enhancing applications to improve functionality of data.
  11. Evaluates systems performance and identifies deficiencies; analyzes and evaluates the need for new systems or system modification.
  12. Prepares proposals, plans and feasibility studies on new work processes, procedures and financial systems;
  13. Performs professional accounting work in the maintenance, control, analysis and development of financial records, reports and systems or budget and financial analysis work in the preparation of budgets or financial management of grants or capital programs as required.
  14. Perform other related duties of a comparable level/type as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

 

EDUCATION

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a closely related field.

EXPERIENCE

Three years professional experience in accounting/finance including two years analyzing automated financial systems and report development. An equivalent combination of experience and education will also be considered.
