Job Summary:  The Alaska HR Generalist is an essential partner to our Alaska Operations teams and provides comprehensive HR support to the management team at various plant locations throughout Alaska.  Under the general direction of an Alaska HR Manager, the generalist will administer policies and procedures in all areas of Human Resources. 

Essential Functions:

  1. Provide HR support as business partners to the operations teams, including administering company policies, procedures and programs.
  2. Facilitates the internal hiring process by posting, recruiting and selecting employees to fill vacant positions along with the appropriate supervisor. 
  3. Conducts employee onboarding and assists management with monitoring performance according to Trident standards.
  4. Keeps records and completes employment related forms, and documentation including separation forms and related documentation, conducts exit interviews as appropriate.
  5. Administers benefit programs and explains benefits information to employees.  Conducts open enrollment meetings if required.
  6. Partners with leadership to resolve employee performance issues and assists supervisors with providing counseling to employees.
  7. Reviews and manages leaves of absence and requests for accommodation and insures compliance with ADA.  Involves worker’s comp team and/or appropriate level of leadership as necessary.
  8. Maintains integrity of Health Placement Questionnaire (MPQ) by ensuring employees complete the MQP fully and honestly.  Requests review of MPQ’s as needed to determine if pre-existing medical issues that arise were disclosed and follow up with appropriate actions.
  9. Facilitates the employee performance review program to ensure compliance with Trident procedures and equity within the organization. 
  10. Delivers training for management and/or employees as needed.
  11. May conduct or assist with investigations.
  12. Travel and/or reassignment to other plants may be required.

Additional Responsibilities: 

  1. Additional responsibilities will vary depending on location.
  2. May handle office administrative tasks related to plant operations (ordering supplies, inventory, invoices, etc).
  3. May administer or assist with safety-related procedures and initiatives.
  4. May process employee timecards, payroll reports, vacation requests, etc. as needed.

Minimum Requirements


Minimum Qualifications:

Experience:  A minimum of two years’ experience working one or more functional areas of Human Resources.  Generalist experience is preferred.

Education:  Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.  A combination of education and directly related experience may be substituted for the education requirement.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:  SHRM CP or HRCI PHR Certification preferred.

Special Training/Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

  Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of email, spreadsheet software, word processing software and presentation software.

 Excellent written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills. Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with other employees, work independently with minimal supervision,  set goals and establish methods for achieving these goals, and can review and evaluate programs and procedures and recommend improvements.
