Trident Seafoods is looking for a strong Sales, Inventory and Operations Planning (SIOP) Director to develop, implement and own the global demand planning function such that sales forecasts will be used to align decisions from Trident’s supply chain teams. This position will be responsible for overall strategic planning activities ensuring a robust demand planning process is in place which allows work to be scheduled in line with customer’s expectations while achieving optimum use of staff, equipment and facilities, thereby maximizing capacity, productivity and efficiency. In addition, the SIOP Director will work closely with supply chain teams to develop SIOP Metrics and Inventory plans.

This Director of Sales, Inventory and Operational Planning (SIOP) will be responsible for the design and development of an effective and sustainable centralized SIOP process. This will include integrating multiple Business Units (current decentralized) demand planning, supply planning, production planning, inventory planning, life cycle inventory management, and excess & obsolescence while considering capacity and constraints of manufacturing. 

This position will play a key supporting role by leading projects focused on process and productivity improvement throughout our global supply chain network.   This position will provide support to Trident’s leadership and business unit teams by assisting them in the analysis of their supply chain forecasting and analytical needs.



  • Supports the development of a sales and operations planning culture through the design, execution and operational management of a Sales, Inventory and Operations Planning (SIOP) process.
  • Drives standard organizational and process rigor and accountability, standardized as much as possible via roles and responsibilities, customized where necessary.
  • Actively develops and build a collaborative team through regular communication and feedback, within the manufacturing facilities and with the senior management team.
  • Builds close relationships with managers, supervisors and staff to improve scheduling, capacity, and forecasting processes.
  • Works with global planning teams as needed to ensure planning designs and requirements are coordinated across the global team.
  • Establishes and leads SIOP meetings while ensuring appropriate metrics, recommendations and schedule are built into the monthly management processes.
  • Serves as SIOP & planning subject matter expert, co-developing training and on-boarding of new talent content.

Process Mapping and Continuous Improvement

  • Continuously develops and improves Global SIOP processes, increasing automated and integrated solutions tailored to specific lines of business.
  • Develops excellent understanding of complex processes from beginning to end and all steps in detail to perform troubleshooting and process improvement effectively.
  • Defines and implements world class planning and SIOP management system and methodologies across Trident Seafoods operations worldwide.
  • Manages, maintains and enhances SIOP operational processes based on throughput, customer service, and  other company, business unit and/or departmental goals
  • Evaluates, tests, recommends and implements changes that could improve service, cycle time, throughput efficiency, inventory levels, etc.
  • Identifies short/long term improvements that can be implemented quickly to achieve desired Sales results.
  • Manages the process and cultural changes associated with the SIOP for all global stakeholders and departments.
  • Recommends and maintains optimal inventory levels at various stages in the supply chain to achieve customer satisfaction levels as well as mitigate inventory exposure.
  • Develops new processes for on-going inventory management with a focus on slow moving and aged Inventory.
  • Completes root cause analyses, develop corrective actions and creates a playbook for common aged inventory drivers by working with data and key stakeholders in the organization to prevent revenue decline.
  • Tracks aged inventory reduction actions by running reports, identifying ownership for this inventory and scheduling weekly recurring meeting with each key stakeholder.

Analytics and Reporting

  • Implements planning system of record, owning the Demand/Planning and SIOP process orchestration across all Alaska, domestic and global sites.
  • Improves product transition management with intelligent life cycle data, process, and analytics including advanced leading indicators like sales funnel, spec analysis, and market intelligence.
  • Develops and implements a capacity model and use this tool to communicate capacity constraints to the operations and commercial teams. Works with each business unit and the global supply chain teams to develop plans to address these constraints.
  • Identifies key data needs and inputs for the SIOP process and establish standardized formats for the data.  Collaborates with relevant parties to assist in obtaining the required data inputs for the SIOP process.
  • Develops, maintains and issues periodic status reports to keep management informed on sales forecasting, and capacity performance.
  • Analyzes reports and participates in projects to eliminate backlogs, optimize timelines, and increase customer service.
  • Identifies and implements business systems applications to support SIOP processes.
  • Assesses the new SIOP process' effect on other business processes and assist departments in managing their internal change requirements.
  • Creates and presents global executive SIOP process to CEO, CFO and executive leadership team.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Leadership or support role in Trident’s ERP project design and implementation for supply chain functionality.
  • Assists in performance management, long term growth, and resource planning to support the Sale, Inventory and Operational Planning team.
  • Other duties as assigned by the company.

Minimum Requirements



BA/BS in finance/engineering/product marketing/supply chain management or applicable industry experience. Advanced Degree (MBA or MS) a plus.


  • 10-15 years of Sales Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP), supply chain management, demand or inventory experience required.
  • Broad Expertise with supply chain management concepts- forecasting, planning, MRP, inventory optimization and logistics.
  • Experience leading an S&OP functional area within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with a global food manufacturing company is a plus.

  • Must be a team player and able to work collaboratively with and through others.
