Job Summary:

Trident is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to work with an exciting and innovative team, utilizing more than just Excel!  Power BI and SQL are just two of the tools we use to manage our margins in this growing industry. We’re looking for an individual who has advanced understanding of planning, budgeting, and financial reporting. You need to be eager to learn, comfortable working independently, and have natural problem-solving skills. Essential Functions:

  1. Analyzes company financial status, designs, and develops timely financial plan and procedures based on analysis of data and discusses financial options with relevant company personnel to determine present and future financial performance.
  2. Manages and/or assists in product pricing, researching economic variances, and forecast economic outcomes.
  3. Works with databases for use in analyzing future plans and forecasts.  A basic knowledge of or willingness to learn Microsoft Access is highly beneficial.
  4. Assists with annual budgeting/forecasting process: resets formulas and updates financial templates for the New Year, inputs margin assumptions for line item budgeting, and reviews data input for accuracy.
  5. Reviews manufacturing data for risks: supply, obsolete inventory and expiring products.  Provides guidance to Category Managers and Finance for potential risks and opportunities.
  6. Works collaboratively with Category Managers, Supply Chain, R&D, Sales, Finance and Plant Controllers to determine product costs, margins, and margin reviews.
  7. Populates and maintains data in financial reporting system and audit to ensure integrity of data structures.  
  8. Builds models to track and identify trends and recommend improvements accordingly.
  9. Assists with the publishing of monthly financial reporting using PowerPoint.
  10. Works with Finance Team to complete various month end tasks.  

Additional Responsibilities:  Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.

Minimum Requirements

 

Experience/Education:

  • Candidates with CPG, Retail, Food Broker, or other manufacturing experience are highly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university in Accounting/Finance required with two years’ experience in a process-manufacturing environment; or four years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills: 

  • Strong analytical and reasoning skills 
  • Proficient using Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and various analytical formulas 
  • Experience or willingness to learn relational databases (Access, SQL, Power BI) 
  • Solid working understanding of other software products (Word, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, Skype, Teams) 
  • Ability to work independently and meet expected deadlines 
  • Good communication skills and team player 

Special Training/Abilities:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. 
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. 
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.   
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situation.

Work Environment:
This job takes place in a typical office environment and subject to moderate noise. 

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

Mental Activities:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use teamwork skills.  The employee is frequently required to use decision making skills. The employee is occasionally required to use interpersonal, customer service, mentoring, problem analysis, training and supervision skills.  The employee will occasionally be required to exercise independent judgment, and use discretion.
