Summary: 

Trident Seafoods is a global leader in the seafood industry with vertically integrated operations from harvesting of fish in Alaska to Value-Added and commodity sales around the world, including key international markets in Japan, Europe, and China. The company’s future strategy includes continued profitable growth in those markets as well as potential opportunities in Latin America and other markets.

The International Value Add business today includes Pickenpack Seafoods in Germany with manufacturing and supply chain operations and sales primarily in Germany but also across other European markets. It also includes our Japan business, which has full end-to-end business operations both in wholly-owned entities and Joint Venture operations. China includes Weidao Foods, a Joint Venture with not only seafood but other protein-based products, and a Wholly Foreign Owned Enterprise, focused on further expansion in the China market. Each of those businesses has a management team in place, leading those businesses.

The Sr. Manager - International Finance will provide critical linkage and support between the International businesses and the Support Center office, working with the Managing Directors and Finance leaders of each business. Examples of support include annual budget and forecast creation, monthly business result review, capital project analysis, as well as accounting, tax and treasury support.

Reporting to the VP of Commercial Finance, the role will also provide analysis and support to the Chief Commercial Officer as requested. The role will work closely with other finance functional leaders, including the Controller, Treasurer, head of Corporate Reporting, as well as with Supply Chain finance, IT, and others.

Essential Functions:

Accounting and Controls:

  • Partners with accounting teams to drive accurate and timely month-end close reporting
  • Understands and manages US GAAP reporting requirements and variances to local reporting requirements

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Leads the annual operational planning process and development of the multi-year strategic plan. Drives variance analysis against budgets, identify risks and opportunities
  • Oversees capital project budgeting and activity including monitoring of active projects and reporting on actual spend and major changes

Analytics and Reporting

  • Designs and standardizes monthly business reviews and prepares presentations and recommendations to Executive team
  • Distills complex financial analysis into actionable insights for business partners, senior management, and board of directors

Additional Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements effective communications with business partners, including financial modeling and analysis, metrics and reporting that provide insights and change management
  • Leads ad hoc valuations and builds financial models for potential mergers and acquisitions
  • Acquires knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions 
  • Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings

Minimum Requirements

 

Experience:

  • 5-10 years of international finance experience, ideally both in international markets and in head office support roles. Prior experience as an international Finance Manager a big plus.
  • Business partnership experience in a collaborative, matrix organization preferred
  • Experience working for a global, protein/food processing/perishable food company is preferred; however, candidates with superior experience and leadership capabilities from other fast-moving consumer products companies will be considered
  • Demonstrated success with all aspects of margin management and expansion

Education:

  • BA/BS in finance or accounting
  • Advanced Degree (MBA or MS) a plus

Technical Competencies:

  • Accounting and Internal Controls expertise within the supply chain functions, including procurement, manufacturing, warehousing, and transportation
  • Strong financial analytics
  • Ability to build the financial and business story for the P&L.

Skills / Qualifications:

  • Must be able to synthesize information to draw insights and actionable recommendations.
  • Able to interact and persuade individuals at senior levels, as well as actively participate in meetings group discussions
  • Ability to communicate financial information effectively with non-financial people

25% travel may be required for this position.
