Summary:

This role reports to the Director, Business Intelligence and Data Analytics who partners with senior leadership on strategic sales and marketing initiatives as well as primary/secondary research to drive organizational growth from a data perspective.

The owner of the Data Analyst role will collect and analyze data to identify trends and provide company stakeholders with valuable information that they can use to improve the efficacy of marketing, sales, operations, and other businesses practices. The Data Analyst’s main duties include selecting, gathering, preparing, and analyzing data; then, making their insights accessible to the company through easy-to-understand data visualizations and reports.

The Analyst will focus on four types of data analytics:

Descriptive analytics to examine what happened in the past as to category and brand performance; these types of findings allow an organization to spot trends.

Diagnostic analytics to reveal why something happened by comparing descriptive data sets to identify dependencies and patterns; this type of analysis identifies the cause of a positive or negative outcome.

Predictive analytics to seek to determine likely outcomes by detecting tendencies in descriptive and diagnostic analyses; this type of analysis provides insights to take proactive action.

Prescriptive analytics to identify what business action to take supported by data with projected outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Using data mining techniques to extract information from multiple data sets and identify correlations and patterns. Organize this information in a format that is easily understood by non-analytical stakeholders and, at the same time provide sufficient details to answer the more technical stakeholders.
  • Organizing and transforming information into comprehensible structures
  • Using data to predict trends in the customer base and the consumer population as a whole
  • Using tools and techniques to visualize data in easy-to-understand formats, such as diagrams, graphs, and dashboards
  • Preparing reports for stakeholder presentations that will be used both internally and externally.
  • Identifying and recommending new ways to become more efficient by streamlining business processes
  • Monitoring data quality and removing corrupt data
  • Communicating with stakeholders to understand data content and business requirements

Additional Responsibilities: 

  • Analyze and develop strategic insights for enterprise-wide growth initiatives, including emerging consumer programs and customer tie-ins.
  • Track and analyze current and emerging trends to recommend areas of innovation and opportunity.
  • Provide custom analyses of consumer perceptions and sentiments
  • Deliver data-driven insights that identify circumstances for improved customer experience, innovation, and business development.
  • Work closely with project managers to understand and deliver data that focus on their specific analytical needs, including identifying critical metrics and KPIs, and deliver actionable insights to relevant decision-makers
  • Proactively analyze data to answer key questions from stakeholders or out of self-initiated curiosity with an eye for what drives business performance, investigating and communicating areas for improvement in efficiency and productivity
  • Create and maintain rich interactive visualizations through data interpretation and analysis integrating various reporting components from multiple data sources
  • Define and implement data acquisition and integration logic, selecting an appropriate combination of methods and tools within defined technology stack to ensure optimal scalability and performance of the solution
  • Develop and maintain databases by acquiring data from primary and secondary sources, and build scripts that will make our data evaluation process more flexible or scalable across data sets

Minimum Requirements

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Experience:

  • Highly developed skills in creating Dashboards
  • Strong skills with Microsoft Excel
  • Familiar with SQL, Python, or R
  • Experience with Power BI and Tableau preferred
  • Experience with IRi and NPD data preferred
  • CPG experience preferred

Education:

Bachelor's degree or program in a related technical field (Math, Analytics, Statistics, Programming)
