Summary: The Food and Beverage Director will be responsible for the planning, organization and oversight of the food and beverage program for all Alaska locations and vessels.  Through subordinate managers the Director will ensure nutritious, appealing meals are served while managing productivity, food cost and total budget. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Works with Finance and AK Operations teams to develop budgets that meet the needs of the operation.
  • Oversees day to day management of galleys in order to control costs through productive operations/personnel management, strategic sourcing and meal planning, and loss prevention.
  • Works with Operations teams to create meal plans that provide nutritious quality meals that meet needs and tastes of a culturally diverse employee group.
  • Creates, conducts and/or oversees training programs for galley personnel to ensure adherence to Trident protocols as well as advancement opportunities. 
  • Plans and reviews staffing levels and rotations with location galley and operations management.
  • Participates in capital planning for significant maintenance or equipment needs.
  • Ensures all employees have required certifications and Galley operations meet all applicable local and federal regulations as well as Trident protocols. 
  • Works with local health departments and others to facilitate required inspections.
  • Participates in strategic planning and goal setting and communicates and cascades goals to teams.
  • Creates and champions an atmosphere that encourages and supports continuous improvement.
  • Manages and monitors performance of teams to ensure adherence to standards and KPI’s.
  • Works with HR and local management to resolve personnel and performance issues and determine appropriate course of action.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Supports and ensures participation in Trident engagement programs and activities such as Trident Performance System, LEAN exercises, Leadership training, and others.
  • Acquires knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions 
  • Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings
  • Position will require travel to remote locations up to 25% or as needed.

Minimum Requirements




  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Food and Beverage services, with at least 2 years in a management role.  Demonstrated success managing a 10 Million + budget.  Experience in a non-commercial setting preferred.


  • Bachelor’s degree in food services technology, hotel/restaurant management or a related field.  A combination of education or training and significant directly related experience may be substituted for the education requirement.


  • Strong people management and leadership skills including coaching, employee engagement, delegating and communication.

Preferred Training and Skills: 

  • Certified/registered dietician preferred.
