Description
Summary: The Assistant Chief Engineer will assist with the overall maintenance and installation of all facility equipment according to Trident standards and supervise the day-to-day work of the facility engineering staff, ensuring understanding and adherence to Key Performance Indicators.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plans, coordinates, and oversees labor, materials, and equipment to ensure efficient maintenance of facility equipment.
- Regularly inspects and observes equipment to detect and diagnose operational issues.
- Determines repair needs and assigns or performs repairs according to department standards, including disassembling, repairing, and/or replacing parts.
- Troubleshoots and ensures the repair of electrical systems and equipment.
- Works with chief engineer to schedule and oversee preventative maintenance tasks to meet department protocol. Will perform maintenance tasks as needed.
- Tests and adjusts equipment to meet performance specifications.
- Sets up and operates machinery and tools such as lathe, drill press, grinder, saws, and metalworking tools.
- Oversees the maintenance of logs according to the department and regulatory standards.
- Initiates purchase orders for parts and machinery as needed.
- Inspects, diagnoses, and troubleshoots all facility systems and equipment to ensure continuous, uninterrupted operation.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Acquires knowledge of Trident's Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions
- Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings
- Cannery locations will require specific job duties related to cannery equipment.
- The position will regularly require variable 12-hour shifts with occasional shifts up to 16+ hours as needed.
Minimum Requirements
Experience:
- Three to six years related experience or training in an industrial process environment. Supervision or management of a team of employees. Familiarity with hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, and industrial refrigeration. Experience in the seafood industry is preferred.
Education:
- Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Basic mechanical knowledge in the food industry is preferred.
Preferred Training & Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence; and speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. Ability to operate a variety of hand tools to include the following: welding machines, cutting torches, and power tools including but not limited to: pipe or tube cutters, power drills, power saws, pullers, wrenches, screwdrivers, sockets, ratchets, grinders, pry bars, hammers, punches, measuring devices, and chisels. Literate with MS Excel, Word, and Outlook email.
