Description
Summary:
A Refrigeration Assistant’s job entails learning from Operators, Technicians, and Contractors to gain base knowledge of the system they are assigned. These systems will include computerized refrigeration controls, manual refrigeration controls, Plate Freezers, Blast Freezers, Tunnel Freezers, Spiral Freezers, Compressors, Condensers, Purgers, Pumps, RSW Chillers, Ice Machines, and Cooler units. Some tasks will include performing daily rounds and reporting abnormalities, gathering tools for maintenance, cleaning up after maintenance, maintaining cleanliness of equipment and engine rooms, and other assigned tasks within ones trained capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Being punctual, following through, and focusing on the task at hand.
- Assisting operators and technicians in the maintenance and operation of industrial refrigeration systems and associated equipment.
- Learning the fundamentals of operating refrigeration systems following plant operating and maintenance procedures.
- Assisting in Mechanical Integrity Inspections.
- Learn and comprehend basic principles of refrigeration.
- Assist contractors in planned maintenance and navigating the facility.
- Becoming familiar with requirements of PSM on a base level.
- Being available for other maintenance operations non-ammonia related whenever needed.
- Complete qualifications needed to become a refrigeration operator.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Actively participating in Tridents PSM program performing repair records, engaging in meetings, and engage in further training.
- Acquire knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions
- Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings
Minimum Requirements
Experience/Traits:
- Able to carry oneself in a professional manner away from work, representing Trident on and off the clock.
- Ability to work well under pressure repeatedly for 12+ hrs. a day 7 days a week.
- Must have the flexibility to work fluctuating shifts structured around a 24-hr production schedule as needed.
- Willingness to take on new tasks to assist the team and grow one’s mechanical knowledge of the facility.
- Must be able to work in close quarters in a multicultural environment.
- Prompt and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
- Tech School/Program preferred.
- Seafood Industry Experience preferred production or otherwise (but not required).
Qualifications:
- Eager to learn and capable of taking refrigeration courses to advance.
Certifications:
- Must attain 24 hr. HAZWoper Certificate (Training Provided by Trident)
