ACCOUNTING/PAYROLL CLERK

Description
Job Summary: Computes, classifies, records, and verifies numerical data for use in maintaining accounting and payroll records by performing the following duties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Compiles payroll data such as hours worked, deductions to be withheld and employee identification numbers from timesheets and other records
- Reviews wages computed and corrects errors to ensure accuracy of payroll
- Records data concerning the transfer of employees between departments
- Prepared periodic reports of earnings, taxes and deductions. May produce labor and production reports
- Updates bills of materials in JD Edwards while analyzing the usage and price variances in inventory
- Compiles and sorts documents, such as invoices and checks, substantiating business transactions
- Verifies and posts details of business transactions, such as funds received and disbursed, and totals accounts to ledgers or computer spreadsheets and databases
- Investigates problems that vendors or purchasing agents have with obtaining payment for bills
- Reconciles general ledger accounts with various registers.

- Maintain and reconciles petty cash reporting any discrepancies
- Codes invoices for input to financial data processing system according to company procedures
- Reconciles report discrepancies and problems
- Codes data for input to financial data processing system according to company procedures
- Assists employees or vendors by answering questions related to accounts, procedures, and services
Additional Responsibilities:
- Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned
- Assists switchboard in implementing plant security procedures for visitor admittance
Minimum Requirements
Experience:
- 2 to 4 years experience with payroll and general accounting duties
Education:
- Associate's degree (A. A.) Accounting
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Detail-oriented, professional attitude, reliable
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Basic accounting principles knowledge
- Is flexible in working schedule per department needs
- Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
- Clear and effective written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills
