Job Summary:

The FSQA Specialist is responsible for assigned FSQA (Food Safety and Quality Assurance) systems, which supports compliance with applicable Product Conformance, Product Issues (Consumer and Customer), and General Information Requests and Responses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensures lab systems and equipment used in FSQA are properly maintained and accurate.
  • Executes protocols, data collection and other duties, in both an administrative and technical role, to verify conformance to applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and regulatory requirements.
  • Notifies management of quality/compliance trends and service failures.
  • Provides supervisor support on selected, large-scope Data Collection projects and execute small-scope individual Data Collection Projects. Drafts recommendations and report thereon to FSQA management.
  • Supports product quality / co-manufacturing failure investigations assists efforts to define, refine and improve investigational strategy.
  • Other duties as directed.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Maintains FSQA Department objectives complementary to corporate policies and goals.
  • Acquires knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions
  • Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings.
  • Inform Quality Assurance Lab Team Leader and or Corporate QA Manager of any issues found in the product being inspected.
  • Monitor quality attributes of products including but not limited to Net Wt., Piece Wt., glaze tests, cook tests, sensory evaluation, defect evaluation, and specification compliance. Documentation should be thorough and accurate, ensuring products ultimately meet or exceed specifications or in need of rework or rejection.    
  • Maintain Inspection lab in neat and orderly fashion at all times.
  • Perform Pre-operational inspection of equipment and facility, noting deficiencies and alerting appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain QA Lab paperwork and electronic paperwork in a neat, legible and orderly fashion.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs consistently.

Minimum Requirements




  • 2-4 years experience in food science, FSQA, or seafood industry-related position(s)
  • Strong data entry and computer skills utilizing Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, databases, other proprietary computer programs, and basic knowledge of network structures
  • Knowledge of GMP and HACCP principles a plus
  • Strong desire to drive for continuous improvement, and ability to work effectively in a dynamic and challenging environment.


  • Associate’s degree and/or 2-4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Work Environment:

  • This job takes place in a wet lab and typical office environment and is subject to moderate noise. 

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and /or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision and depth perception.

Mental Activities:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use teamwork skills, analytical skills and interpersonal and customer service skills.  The employee should be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
