Summary:

The Supply Chain Manager oversees all activities around purchased materials in support of maintenance, engineering, and operations for an assigned location to include assessment of supply and demand, shipping and receiving, inventory counts and loss management, quality control, and oversight of Asset Management System. This position will manage Inventory, Warehouse, Dock, and Shipping and Receiving teams.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Warehouse & Inventory Control:

• Oversees the inventory management of purchased indirect materials used in support of plant maintenance, engineering, and operations.

• Drives continuous improvement – Works with cross-functional partners to identify opportunities for improvement and develop/implement best practices/routines.

• Defines, measures, and improves key performance indicators (KPI’s) to improve asset availability and reduce fulfillment cost.

• Monitors and corrects inventory levels to ensure rotation and resource optimization.

• Identifies and resolves root causes of inventory losses, working with cross-functional partners to problem solve and implement preventive measures.

• Defines appropriate cycle counting cadence to verify inventory accuracy and control inventory loss.

• Reviews inventory issues/discrepancies and resolution of issues.

• Defines and Directs inventory slotting strategy to ensure maximized pick efficiency.

• Oversees operation of Warehouse Management Systems to optimize accountable inventory control procedures while staying compliant with all regulatory agencies.

• Monitors demand and analyzes data to forecast future supply and logistical needs.

• Prepares and presents reports as requested to executive team and plant management.

 

Shipping and Receiving Management:

• Defines, evaluates, and establishes shipping and receiving procedures to maximize performance and productivity.

• Oversees shipping and receiving activities to make sure work meets quality standards and is performed according to established procedures.

• Develops, analyzes, and revises procedures to ensure the receipt, coordination and safety of goods coming through the warehouse.

• Analyzes shipping methods and providers to ensure adequate fulfillment while controlling shipping costs. Conducts RFP process as necessary to obtain quotes.

• Establishes and monitors providers’ adherence to appropriate chain of custody, quality, and compliance procedures. 

 

Dock Management:

• Directs and oversees all dock operations and activities including loading/unloading of vessels.

• Directs and oversees the efficient and effective handling of freight within assigned area of responsibility.

• Monitors and oversees container aging to ensure compliance with regulations.

• Ensures dock operations meet environmental and safety regulations and policies.

• Works directly with plant management to establish and implement operational protocols.

• Oversees dock maintenance and repair. 

 

Team Management:

• Oversees labor planning and scheduling of inventory control and Warehouse staff – ensures all warehouse and inventory activities are completed timely, utilizing all personnel effectively. Includes prioritizing and delegating ad hoc requests in cooperation with operations personnel.

• Creates continual feedback loop to encourage continual improvement and employee ownership and engagement.

• Leads, develops, and mentors team.

• Manages performance and completes evaluations according to Trident procedures and ensures adherence to policies and procedures.

• Works with HR and Plant Management to resolve personnel and performance issues and determine course of action.

• Ensures compliance to legal regulations and company policies.

 

Additional Responsibilities:

• Identify and recommend capital improvement project.

• Acquires knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions.

• Notifies designated personnel of any environmental and safety incidents, or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and or Safety training.

• Complies with safety regulations and maintains clean and orderly work areas.

• Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Requirements

 

 

• A minimum of 10 years’ Logistics experience.

• A minimum of 8 years’ experience leading a team.

• Experience with duties that include shipping and receiving, warehouse and inventory management, maintenance and work order management is preferred.

• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

• Prior experience with inventory management systems is a plus. 

 

Special Training/Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on one situations to supervisor and other employees of the organization. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. 

 

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. 

 

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. 

 

Mental Activities:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to understand English, and utilize teamwork skills. The employee is frequently required to speak English, and use decision making skills. The employee is occasionally required to use interpersonal, customer service, mentoring, problem analysis, training and supervision skills. The employee will be occasionally required to read and write English, perform basic math, use exercise independent judgment, and use discretion.
